No. Assignments must be submitted to me through Brightspace or Pearson MyLab.
May I submit assignments by email?
No. Assignments must be submitted to me through Brightspace or Pearson MyLab.
Quizzes / Exams
Will I be allowed to go to the bathroom during an exam?
Absolutely not. There are no circumstances under which you will be allowed to go to the bathroom during an ongoing examination.
How many questions?
Two hours worth.
Will my instructor be present at exams?
Yes, that's the plan, barring any unexpected emergencies.
What do you think of cheating on quizzes / exams in this class?
As you know, cheating is not allowed on this or any other exam and, given the way the exam is structured, will likely hurt your performance. The exam will rely on the honor code that:
You are taking the exam and not someone else.
You do not communicate in any manner with any of your classmates or anyone else about the exam during the exam or after the exam until the exam is over for all students in the class.
You will not copy in any way any portion of the exam, whether the questions or the answers.
How many questions?
Several.
The Final Exam
Is it a departmental exam?
Yes
Is it comprehensive?
Yes.
What else should I know for taking this test?
Recall that for the Fall 2023 Final exam, we are using Pearson MyLab with their lockdown browser. You already have instructions for downloading it and testing it. https://help.pearsoncmg.com/xl/instructor/instructor_help/Content/use_pearson_ldb.htm
You will not be able to switch to MS Excel, so you will have to learn how to use Statcrunch. See tutorials here https://media.pearsoncmg.com/ov2/aw/aw_mml_shared_1/statistics/TechnologyTutorial/studycard_statcrunch.html
What topics should I study?
(See above.) Everything from the beginning of the course to the end.
Are there reviews? Practice Exams?
Yes, see the "Prep for Exams" section of the Handouts page
What should I bring to the exam?
Something to write with, probably a #2 pencil. And a calculator. Currently this exam is administered over Pearson MyLab, so make sure you have paper, brief notes (a "cheat" sheet), and whatever else you use when you do HW problems.
Should I bring formula sheets? Tables?
If the exam takes place in school, you will be provided with formulas and tables. If the exam is online, then yes, print out the formulas and tables packet and bring it along to the test.
How will the final grade be calculated?
According to the grading plan laid out in the syllabus.
Will we be allowed to go to the bathroom during the exam?
Absolutely not. You will need all the time allotted so, even if the exam is online, plan ahead.
If I show you that another STA 2000 instructor has a better way of calculating the final grade in the course, will you use that one?
If I show you that another STA 2000 student has done better work than you, will you ... um, never mind.
Can you teach me everything I need to know for the final?
Sure. Just come to class all during the semester. And review the online lecture notes. No problem.
